Markets Trade Flat, Hindalco Top Gainer
Benchmark were trading marginally higher in early trade, even as global cues were quiet. Asian markets were trading mixed, with the Japanese Nikkei trading with gains, while the Hong Kong's Hang Sang and the Shanghai Composite were lower in trade.
The Sensex was trading with gains of 36 points, while the Nifty gained 12 points in trade. Shares in Reliance Industries gained ground on reports that the company is looking to list its digital and wireless business overseas.
Telecom major, Bharti Airtel saw its share price gain ground after Bharti Telecom Limited, promoter company of Bharti Airtel, raised Rs 8,433 crore by selling 2.75% stake in the operator to a number of overseas investors and domestic mutual funds.
Shares in Titan Company fell after the company gave a detailed impact on its business, and the impact by Covid 19 on operations. The stock was down more than 2 per cent in early trade.
Among the major gainers from the Nifty in early trade were Kotak Mahindra Bank, UPL and Tata Motors. Among the early set of losers from the Nifty were Mahindra and Mahindra, Bajaj Finser, GAIL and Asian Paints. Most of the banking stocks were trading flat.
Meanwhile, Dow Futures were trading higher, pointing to slightly higher open for the US markets, later today.
