Markets Trade Higher, Nifty Crosses 10,800 Points
Benchmark indices gained for the sixth straight session in a row, as banking and financial stocks continued to move higher. Asian markets were mostly trading with gains, led by Mainland China's Shanghai Composite and the Hong Kong's Hang Sang.
The Nifty was trading with gains of 25 points at 10,826 points, while the Sensex was trading with gains of 71points. Among the early gainers in trade from the Nifty were UPL, IndusInd Bank and JSW Steel.
Shares in Yes Bank lost ground after the banks said its capital raising committee of the Board of Directors has approved raising funds by way of a further public offering (FPO).
Shares in L&T Finance Holdings gained after a subsidiary L&T Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (LTIFCL) on said it has received the first tranche of $50 million of the total $100-million ECB loan from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
Shares in ICICI Bank were marginally higher, ahead of the board meeting of the bank to decide on fund raising plans for the bank.
Titan Company saw its shares higher, after the company said that it has opened as many as 83 per cent of its stores in India.
GAIL gained momentum after noted brokerage firm CLSA has initiated a "buy" call on the government owned gas company.
