Massive Price Hike For Amazon Prime Subscription In India

Amazon, the leading e-commerce company, has recently raised the subscription price of its Prime membership in India, with the objective of encouraging customers to opt for annual plans over monthly or quarterly ones.

All subscription plans, except the annual plan, have been subject to a significant increase of over Rs 100. This adjustment comes only a few months after Amazon had lowered its subscription price in order to draw in new customers, making it the second price change in a short span of time.

Amazon Prime's one-month subscription price in India has been increased from Rs 179 to Rs 299, a hike of Rs 120, which was announced in December 2021.

Similarly, for the three-month subscription plan, the cost has been raised to Rs 599 from Rs 459, an increase of Rs 140.

However, the annual subscription prices remain unchanged, with the regular plan priced at Rs 1,499, and the Prime Lite plan priced at Rs 999, both available on the official site.

Amazon has announced that current subscribers to a particular plan will not be affected by the recent price hike. According to Amazon's statement, existing customers will continue to be charged the old prices of Rs 459 for 3 months and Rs 179 for a month until their last renewal before January 15, 2024.

However, if auto-payment fails or the customer chooses to opt out of auto-renewal, they will need to renew their Prime membership at the new prices.

Amazon Prime membership offers a range of benefits, including priority shipping, access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading, Prime Gaming, and Amazon Family.
