Maxion Wheels Partners with SPPU to Launch Scholarship Programme in India

Global automotive wheel manufacturer Maxion Wheels has introduced an academic scholarship programme in India. This initiative, in collaboration with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and the Iochpe Foundation of Brazil, includes the inauguration of a new Formare learning centre in Pune.

Scholarship Programme Launched in India

Formare Programme for Underprivileged Youth

The Formare programme, which has been operational for over three decades in Brazil and Mexico, aims to support underprivileged youth. With the establishment of the centre in Pune, India becomes the third country globally and the first in Asia to implement this programme.

The selection process for economically weaker section (EWS) students began in July. Twenty-six students were chosen for a two-year academic and industry programme with SPPU university classes. These students are now receiving professional training at Kalyani Maxion Wheels' manufacturing facility in Pune.

Comprehensive Support for Students

Under this programme, students will benefit from a comprehensive academic scholarship funded by Maxion Wheels. The scholarship covers 100 per cent tuition fees, along with providing uniforms, transportation, meals, and a monthly stipend.

Upon successful completion of the two-year programme, students will be awarded a Manufacturing Technology academic diploma. This initiative aligns with the Indian government's efforts to support economically weaker sections and skill development.

"For more than 35 years, we have successfully connected classroom learning with real-world workplace experiences for thousands of students in Brazil and Mexico and are now bringing this program and social benefits to India," said Marcos Oliveira, President and CEO of Iochpe-Maxion, and Chairman of the Board, Iochpe Foundation.

Enhancing Employability

The primary goal of the Formare programme is to improve the employability of underprivileged youth. Pieter Klinkers, CEO of Maxion Wheels, stated that this initiative is particularly focused on benefiting the Pune region.

This scholarship programme marks a significant step towards empowering underprivileged youth in India by providing them with valuable education and practical skills.
