Haryana FPOs: MDH agreement to link farmers with African markets, including Tanzania and Kenya
MDH has signed an agreement with six Farmer Producer Organizations in Haryana to connect farmers with global markets and support higher incomes. Implemented by the Department of Foreign Cooperation and the Horticulture Department, the initiative aims to open agribusiness opportunities in Tanzania, Kenya, and other African countries, officials said.
MDH signed an agreement with six Farmer Producer Organizations of Haryana on Wednesday. The deal aimed to link farmers with global markets and raise farm incomes. The Department of Foreign Cooperation and the Horticulture Department implemented the initiative. The agreement was signed in Morni, in Panchkula district, in the presence of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Officials said the move supported Haryana’s "Go Global\" approach for Farmer Producer Organizations. Under this plan, FPOs could explore farming and agribusiness options in Tanzania and Kenya. The statement also mentioned other African countries. The government said this could open wider trade routes for farmers and strengthen access to overseas markets.
MDH agreement with Haryana farmers targets global markets
The official statement said the initiative connected farmers with modern methods and new buyers. Saini said the plan followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to enhance farmers income. Saini said the state kept working to link farmers with modern farm technologies. Saini also said the focus stayed on new markets and global opportunities.
Saini said the state budget for this year announced development of the Morni region. Saini said the agreement signed on Wednesday would help promote natural farming there. Saini said farmers who adopted natural farming would get compensation for losses. Saini also said MDH would pay a price 10 per cent above the market rate.
Natural farming in Haryana to expand under MDH agreement
Saini said the government aimed to start natural farming on about 4,000 acres in phase one. Saini said Haryana did not want farmers limited to traditional farming. Saini said the state wanted farmers to move towards entrepreneurship and value addition. Saini added that international trade links could help farmers become self-reliant and prosperous.
Under the agreement, commercial cultivation of spice crops would be promoted in Morni. The crops included ginger, turmeric and chilli. Saini said MDH would provide technical guidance and support for quality output. Saini also said MDH would help with marketing and procurement. The project also aimed to push pesticide-free and sustainable farming.
Haryana farmers and MDH agreement linked to Africa opportunities
Saini called the agreement a major step to link Haryana’s farmers with global trade. Saini said it could support farm and business opportunities in Tanzania, Kenya and other nations. Saini said MDH would show interest in buying produce grown there. This applied if Haryana’s FPOs acquired land and grew spice crops.
Saini said the objective was to place farmers in global supply chains, not local markets alone. Saini said the initiative could raise income and promote agricultural exports. Saini said it could also place Haryana on the global agricultural trade map. The government presented this as a route to wider market access.
MDH and Haryana farmers discuss procurement and quality focus
According to the official statement, MDH owner Rajeev Gulati said that with the Haryana governments progressive policies and the continuous encouragement being provided by Saini for organic farming, MDH sees an opportunity to develop a procurement system that prioritises pesticide-free and premium-quality agricultural produce.
Gulati said MDH remained committed to supporting local farmers through assured procurement. Gulati said this would offer stable markets and encourage better quality output. Gulati also said the move could create avenues for increased income. Gulati added that Haryana could play a role in the spice value chain and balance demand.
