MEGA-Blockbuster: Shah Rukh Khan's Starrer Jawan Wins Heart Of Cinema Lovers On Release Day; PVR Shares Rally

Some of the entertainment stocks witnessed a huge rally on Thursday as Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan gets a sensational applause from fans and blockbuster reviews. Multiplex giant, PVR Inox gained by more than 2% on BSE as Jawan's box office collection is expected to drive the company's growth in Q2. The much-awaited movie has been directed by Atlee Kumar. Both Atlee and SRK have received commendable praises from cinema lovers.

At the time of writing, PVR shares traded at Rs 1850.80 apiece, up by 1.3% on BSE. The stock gained by 2.28% with an intraday high of Rs 1869 apiece on the exchange.

Other stocks like Cineline India hit a 5% upper circuit, while Saregama India shares jumped 2.5%, Eros International Media shares climbed nearly 2%, and TIPS Industries gained by over 1%.

On the big screen, the Badshah of Bollywood, SRK is showing his chemistry alongside Nayanthara, the only South Indian actress to be featured in the Forbes India list. Produced by Gauri Khan, Jawan also starring renowned names like Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Yogi Babu, and Sunil Grover. The distribution partners are -- Yash Raj Films, SVF, Red Giant Movies, Pen Studios, and Sri Venkateswara Creations.

Taran Adarsh, movie critic and Biz analyst through his Twitter, now known as X, on Jawan, said, "a hardcore masala entertainer that's sure to stand tall in SRK's filmography... Atlee presents SRK in a massy character and he is fire.. Move over Pathaan, Jawan is here to conquer hearts and BO, both. #JawanReview."

In his review thread, Adarsh added, "Jawan is loaded with aces... Razor-sharp screenplay, attention-grabbing episodes, splendid action pieces, larger-than-life frames, peppy soundtrack, also the pace and energy never dips... However, it's the clash of the gladiators - SRK and Vijay Sethupathi -- that's the driving force of Jawan." He further added,"Jawan is bolstered by towering performances from the proficient cast... Right from Vijay Sethupathi to Nayanthara, Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt, each actor shines in this well-constructed script."

Hence, Adarsh gives a 4.5 rating out of 5 on Jawan and calls it 'Mega Blockbuster'.

On Wednesday, Jinesh Joshi - Research Analyst, Prabhudas Lilladher Pvt Ltd said, "Pertinent to note that SRK's last movie Pathaan had netted ~Rs543crs and Jawan has a better pan-India appeal given it has stars from South like Vijay Sethupati and Nayanthara and thus it would be interesting to see where the life-time collections actually settle."

After Jawan, Joshi also said that "SRK will be seen next in Dunki (a Raj Kumar Hirani Film) which is expected to release in Christmas 2023."

Hence, Joshi said, "Retain positive bias on multiplexes with a BUY on PVR (TP Rs1,797 - most likely to be revised upwards)."
