At the first anniversary of the NDA government's ambitious PM-Kisan scheme (also called Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme) on Monday, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched a mobile app to broaden the reach of the programme.

The scheme that provides annual aid of Rs 6,000 to eligible farmers has so far had 9.74 crore registrations against its target of 14 crore farmers.
According to official data, 8.45 crore of the registered farmers have received payments.
At the launch, Tomar said that the mobile app has been developed to broaden the reach of the scheme and plays an important role in achieving the target of doubling farmers' income by 2022.
Farmers can use the app to know the payment status, correct name as per Aadhaar, registration status and scheme eligibility besides helpline numbers and self-registration features, he said.
The mobile app has been developed and designed by the National Informatics Centre, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The government also has a dedicated portal, that is www.pmkisan.gov.in, for making online registrations for the PM-Kisan scheme.
Tomar said a budget of Rs 75,000 crore has been provided in the current financial year for the scheme of which more than Rs 50,850 crore has already been released. The government aims to cover 12 lakh farmers by the end of this financial year.
