1,000 Mobile Tower Installations in Uttar Pradesh Await Approval, DIPA Raises Concerns

The Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) has urged the Uttar Pradesh government to expedite the approval process for mobile tower installations, with nearly 1,000 applications pending, particularly in Noida and Ghaziabad. This delay affects network quality, especially for 5G services.

1,000 Mobile Towers in Limbo: Uttar Pradesh Approvals Long Overdue

The Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA) reported on Friday that approximately 1,000 applications for the installation of mobile towers in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Noida and Ghaziabad, are currently awaiting approval. These towers are crucial for improving network quality, especially for 5G services that require a higher number of towers compared to 4G networks.

Challenges Faced by Telecom Infrastructure Providers

Telecom infrastructure providers are encountering difficulties in obtaining permissions to deploy infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, particularly in Noida and Ghaziabad. Despite submitting all necessary documents and paying the application fee through the online portal Nivesh Mitra, the single window system of the Uttar Pradesh government, no permissions have been granted for the deployment of telecom infrastructure.

Pending Applications and Non-Refundable Payments

Approximately 1,000 applications are currently pending, with DIPA members having already made non-refundable payments of Rs 1,000 each, totaling Rs 10 lakh. DIPA members include prominent companies such as ATC Telecom, Indus Towers, Ascend Telecom, Summit Digitel, Sterlite Technologies, Crest Digitel, Suyog Telematics, Signotox Towers, iBus Infrastructure, Applied Solar Technologies AST, CloudExtel, and Pratap Technocrats.

Request for Expedited Approvals

DIPA Director General T R Dua emphasized the urgency of clearing all pending applications to facilitate the faster rollout of 5G services in Uttar Pradesh. He appealed to the Government of Uttar Pradesh to address this matter promptly to ensure the timely deployment of telecom infrastructure and the enhancement of network quality for the benefit of citizens and businesses in the state.
