Semiconductor jobs at CG Semi OSAT Sanand feature in Modi video with young workers
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a video of his interaction with young employees at the CG Semi Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat. Workers from several Indian states described how semiconductor jobs, ITI-based pathways, and overseas training supported their careers and personal independence.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a video on Sunday showing conversations with young staff at the CG Semi OSAT unit in Sanand, Gujarat. Modi had opened the outsourced semiconductor assembly and test facility a day earlier. In the clip on the PM’s X account, Modi asked if the jobs brought happiness and changed lives. Employees shared work and personal updates.

The video featured workers from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Bihar. Shivani Vikey from Madhya Pradesh spoke about leaving home for work. "I am the first daughter of my village to work outside the state. The villagers are impressed that I am self-dependent now,\" Vikey said during the interaction.
CG Semi OSAT facility: Training journeys and family milestones
Poonam Kumari from Jharkhand said the job followed an Industrial Training Institute ITI course. Kumari added that CG Semi later sent Kumari to Malaysia for training. Modi noted that some villagers may have doubted the ITI route earlier. Kumari said people first believed studying away from home would not help.
Kumari said opinions in the village changed once the semiconductor work began. \"But their perception changed after I started working at the semiconductor facility,\" Kumari said proudly. Another employee explained that Malaysia training felt manageable with support. Senior trainers used Hindi and practical demonstrations when lessons became hard.
Priyanka Dhanwar from Jharkhand said the role brought a first overseas trip. Dhanwar added that this progress made parents feel proud. Modi also spoke with Kaushal Kumar from Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister also interacted with Satyam Sinha from Bihar during the exchange.
CG Semi OSAT facility: Modi’s remarks on chips and AI
After inaugurating the facility on Saturday, Modi spoke about coming technology shifts. Modi said semiconductor and AI revolutions would create many openings. Modi urged young Indians to act during this period. \"There is unwavering faith in the power and talent of Indias youth,\" the PM had said.
Modi also said major global industrial shifts often benefit younger workers most. Modi later spoke about women joining the growing semiconductor space. Modi recalled meeting women technicians from Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Chhattisgarh. Modi said many came from modest families and studied at ITIs.
Modi said some trainees had never flown abroad before the Malaysia programme. Modi added that the experience helped them support India’s chip manufacturing work. Modi also addressed Indians aged between 18 and 20 years. Modi said government efforts aimed to help them raise families in a developed India by 2047.
