On Friday, over 25 flights operated by Indian airlines were threatened with bombs, according to sources. In the past 12 days, more than 275 flights have faced similar threats. Most of these threats were issued via social media platforms. On Thursday alone, over 70 flights received bomb threats.

An IndiGo spokesperson confirmed that seven of its flights, including flight 6E 87 from Kozhikode to Dammam, received security alerts. Other affected IndiGo flights included 6E 2099 from Udaipur to Delhi and 6E 11 from Delhi to Istanbul. Flights 6E 58 from Jeddah to Mumbai and 6E 17 from Mumbai to Istanbul were also targeted.
Airlines Respond to Bomb Threats
IndiGo's flight 6E 2099, scheduled from Udaipur to Delhi, was among those receiving a bomb threat. Following security protocols, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay before departure. All passengers were safely evacuated, as per the airline's statement. Vistara and SpiceJet each had about seven flights threatened, while Air India had six.
Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu addressed the situation on Friday. He reassured the public that the government is determined to take firm action against those responsible for these hoax threats. "We are deeply concerned in the wake of recent hoax bomb threats disrupting air travel," he stated.
Government Initiatives for Safety
The government has requested data from social media companies Meta and X regarding these hoax messages sent to airlines. Efforts are underway to identify those responsible for these activities. Earlier this week, Naidu mentioned plans for legislative measures against such threats, including adding offenders to a no-fly list.
"Safety and security are our highest priorities," Naidu emphasized in a post on X. He urged collective efforts to ensure safe skies for everyone. The government remains committed to addressing these malicious acts decisively.
