Yogi Adityanath Highlights Importance of MSMEs Adapting to Market Demands in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has underscored the importance of continuous upgrades for MSMEs to align with market changes. During a review of the MSME department, he noted that Uttar Pradesh has the largest MSME base in India. A robust strategy is needed to enhance youth skills in this sector. He stressed quality training for aspiring entrepreneurs under the CM Yuva scheme before loan disbursement.

Yogi Adityanath on MSMEs and Market Demands

The Chief Minister highlighted that MSMEs are crucial for local economic activity and act as anchor units for larger industries. With nearly 96 lakh MSME units active in Uttar Pradesh, they contribute about 46% to the state's total exports and provide employment to over 1.65 crore people. He emphasized strengthening the MSME sector to achieve visions like Vocal for Local, Local to Global, and Brand UP.

Focus on Empowering Youth and Women

Adityanath stated that it is essential to promote traditional crafts, agriculture-based products, and innovation-driven enterprises globally. State schemes should empower youth, women, entrepreneurs, and rural populations, with regular monitoring ensured. Officials informed him that over 3.21 lakh youths registered under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan in FY 2023-24, with over 56,000 applications received so far.

He directed that loans be sanctioned to one lakh beneficiaries annually and called for improved coordination with banks. He reiterated that comprehensive training is necessary before granting loans to selected applicants. The Chief Minister also reviewed self-employment schemes during this session.

One District One Product Scheme

While reviewing the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, Adityanath remarked on its role in reviving traditional crafts and small-scale industries across Uttar Pradesh. Since its inception in 2018, approximately Rs 635 crore in margin money has been distributed. Numerous beneficiaries have received support in areas like training, marketing, design, and technical assistance.

The Chief Minister issued guidelines for holistic development in the sector, focusing on entrepreneurship expansion, job creation, and export enhancement. He believes the time is ripe to elevate Uttar Pradesh's traditional crafts and innovative enterprises on a global platform.

The CM Yuva scheme aims to provide proper training before loan disbursement to aspiring entrepreneurs. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost the capabilities of youth engaged in the MSME sector. The Chief Minister stressed that state schemes must focus on empowering various demographics while ensuring regular monitoring.

Adityanath's directives aim to strategically bolster the MSME sector's strength to achieve broader economic visions. By promoting traditional crafts and innovation-driven enterprises globally, Uttar Pradesh seeks to enhance its economic footprint while supporting local industries.
