India's largest and most premium cinema exhibitor, PVR INOX Limited has launched a new four-screen multiplex at Prism Mall in Hyderabad. This expansion is not only a testament to the company's aggressive growth strategy but also a boon for cinephiles in the bustling Gachibowli area.
The announcement saw an immediate positive reaction in the stock market, with PVR INOX shares surging 6% on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), reaching Rs 1,512.60. Concurrently, on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the shares were trading with nearly a 5% gain at Rs 1,498.15 per share as of noon. Over the past year, the company's stock has seen a moderate increase of over 8%, with a notable 13.5% rise in the last month alone.

Beyond the new launch, Prabhas' latest multi-starrer movie, "Kalki 2898 AD," has received glowing reviews and remarkable box office success. By day two, the film had already crossed the Rs 150-crore mark domestically, with South India contributing significantly to its impressive numbers.
The excitement surrounding "Kalki 2898 AD" was palpable throughout South India, where the film's futuristic narrative and stellar performances struck a chord with audiences. Early trade estimates indicated a roaring success in Andhra and Telangana, with the film grossing around Rs 88 crore within the first two days. Karnataka also embraced the movie, contributing an impressive Rs 15 crore. In Kerala, the film earned approximately Rs 4.5 crore, while Tamil Nadu audiences added around Rs 9 crore. Overall, the film amassed an estimated Rs 116.5 crore from South India alone, underscoring its widespread appeal.
The success of "Kalki 2898 AD" extended beyond the southern states. The Hindi version of the film made significant strides, earning a little over Rs 25 crore on its second day, bringing its two-day total to approximately Rs 53 crore. This upward trajectory in the Hindi market suggested that the film was poised for a strong performance over the weekend.
Internationally, "Kalki 2898 AD" continued its winning streak. Early trends indicated that the film earned over Rs 7 crore on Friday alone from North America, contributing to a total of Rs 53 crore from the region. The movie's global appeal was evident as its overall overseas collection soared past Rs 75 crore.
The new multiplex at Prism Mall is equipped with state-of-the-art technology designed to offer an unparalleled movie-going experience. Each of the four screens features 4K laser projection, advanced Dolby ATMOS immersive surround sound, and a Next Gen 3D system.
With a seating capacity of 950, including celebrity recliners, the multiplex is designed to cater to a diverse audience seeking comfort and luxury. The launch of this cinema extends PVR INOX's footprint to 97 screens across 17 properties in Hyderabad and 110 screens across 20 properties in Telangana. This move is part of a broader strategy to expand its presence in South India, where it now operates 579 screens in 102 properties.
Ajay Bijli, Managing Director of PVR INOX, expressed his enthusiasm for the new launch. "Gachibowli is a destination for comfort, connectivity, and convenience, and we are thrilled to add a new entertainment landmark to the city of Charminar. PVR INOX Prism is the perfect destination for unwinding after work or enjoying a weekend outing with friends and family. With the launch of our Gachibowli multiplex, we hope to create a space where movie lovers can come together, share experiences, and forge lasting memories through the magic of the silver screen," he said.
The new multiplex is located in Prism Mall, a prime location in Hyderabad's Gachibowli area, known for its vibrant mix of residential, commercial, and entertainment options. This strategic placement is expected to attract a large number of visitors, providing a significant boost to the local economy.
Over the past year, PVR INOX has made significant strides in expanding its reach and enhancing its offerings. The company's stock performance reflects this positive momentum, with a steady increase in value. The recent 13.5% surge over the past month indicates strong market sentiment and optimism about the company.
With this latest addition, PVR INOX now operates the largest multiplex network in India and Sri Lanka, boasting 1,757 screens across 362 properties in 113 cities.
The launch of the new multiplex in Hyderabad is part of a broader trend of growth and innovation in the cinema exhibition industry. As consumer preferences evolve and demand for premium experiences increases, companies like PVR INOX are well-positioned to capitalize on these trends and drive further growth.
