Concert travel has seen a notable increase, with bookings rising by 44% this year. Younger generations are opting for budget-friendly options, such as buses. The report indicates that 36% of bus bookings were made by individuals under 25, showcasing their preference for affordable travel.

Travel Trends and Preferences

Paytm's data reveals that Mumbai and Dubai were the most-searched destinations throughout the year. This trend reflects a shared interest in vibrant city life and luxurious getaways. Independence Day emerged as a peak time for flight bookings, as many travellers took to the skies to celebrate freedom.

Bus bookings among Paytm users surged during Chhath Puja, while train bookings peaked around Holi. Venkatanarasimharajuvaripeta in Andhra Pradesh was noted as the longest railway station name booked, contrasting with IB in Odisha, the shortest.

Late-Night Planning and Unique Destinations

The report highlights a trend of late-night travel planning, with about 30% of bookings made after 8 pm. This suggests a growing inclination towards last-minute arrangements among travellers. Additionally, there was an increase in trips to less conventional destinations like Antananarivo in Madagascar and Lakshadweep.

The year featured 15 long weekends, which significantly boosted both domestic and international travel. This abundance of extended breaks encouraged many to explore new places and satisfy their wanderlust.
