Services Restricted To Indian Routes On Day 1

The services at Navi Mumbai International Airport are restricted to Indian routes including IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air and Star Air flight operations.

Flight Schedule To 9 Cities on First Day

These flights are scheduled to nine cities from NMIA. The first full day of commercial operations, only 15 flights departure has been scheduled. The international airport currently operates from 8 am to 8 pm.

Navi Mumbai International Airport Operations, Facilities

Navi Mumbai International Airport can support around 24 scheduled departures daily to 13 destination during its initial phase. The single runway is planned to manage as many as 10 aircraft movements each hour.

NMIA To Extend Operations From February

While the flight operations are limited as of now, management has planned to extend operations to a round-the-clock schedule.

Navi Mumbai Airport Passenger Processing

Fight travellers who are set to onboard a flight from Navi Mumbai International Airport can use Digi Yatra-based contactless services at selected points. Staff are deployed at kerbside, check-in counters, security lanes and boarding gates to assist travellers. Shops and food outlets have been planned with an emphasis on lower prices and regional brands, while the building design combines lotus-inspired motifs with energy-efficient features.

The first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport includes single terminal and one runway. It is designed for 20 million passengers each year. Plans across five phases envisage handling up to 90 million passengers annually, supported by dedicated cargo facilities and links to several transport modes.

Navi Mumbai Airport First Day Flight Schedule

IndiGo flight 6E460 from Bengaluru landed at 08:00 hrs and received a traditional water cannon salute. Soon afterwards, IndiGo flight 6E882 to Hyderabad departed at 08:40 hrs as the airport's first scheduled outgoing service. The peak aircraft movements are fixed at 10 flight departures and arrivals per hour.

Navi Mumbai International Airport Project Development

The project to build the airport was planned since 1997. Work was repeatedly delayed, including almost two years lost during the Covid-19 pandemic, stretching the journey to roughly a quarter of a century.

Foundation Laying Ceremony

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone in 2018, and formally inaugurated Navi Mumbai International Airport on October 8 this year. At that foundation event, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said the first flight would take off in December 2019. That target slipped as land, clearances and pandemic disruptions slowed progress.

Adani Airports Holdings Limited, a unit of Adani Enterprises Limited, has managed construction and operational readiness at Navi Mumbai International Airport since 2021.
