Two youths from Telangana and Gujarat were arrested by the Mumbai Police for sending threatening emails to RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani. The accused had demanded Rs 900 crore from the industrialist in six e-mails sent to him separately over the last eight days.
In a significant development, the Mumbai Police have apprehended two young individuals from Telangana and Gujarat for sending threatening emails to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman Mukesh Ambani. The accused, identified as Ganesh Ramesh Vanrapathi (19) and Rajveer Jagatsingh Khant (20), had allegedly demanded a staggering sum of Rs 900 crore from the industrialist through a series of six emails sent over the past eight days.
Modus Operandi

According to preliminary investigations, Vanrapathi and Khant were working independently and had no direct connection with each other. The duo used separate email IDs to send the threatening messages to Ambani's official company email address. The emails contained explicit threats, stating that if the industrialist failed to comply with their demands, he would face elimination. The investigation revealed that Vanrapathi, operating under the email ID [email protected], had demanded Rs 500 crore in a single email, while Khant, using the email ID [email protected], had sent five emails seeking Rs 400 crore.
The Investigation
Acting swiftly upon receiving the complaint from Ambani's security in charge, the Mumbai Police's crime branch initiated a thorough investigation. Through meticulous efforts, they were able to trace and apprehend Vanrapathi in Warangal, Telangana, and Khant in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The accused were found to be using separate email IDs to conceal their identities and evade detection.
Legal Proceedings
Following their arrests, Vanrapathi and Khant were produced before the court. Vanrapathi has been remanded to police custody until November 8, while further investigations are underway to gather additional evidence and ascertain the motives behind their actions. The accused have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 387 (putting a person in fear of death or of grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) and Section 506(2) (criminal intimidation).
The Accused
Preliminary information indicates that Khant, who hails from Gujarat, is a highly qualified student. The police are currently exploring his educational background and personal circumstances to gain a better understanding of his involvement in this case. Meanwhile, Vanrapathi's motivations and personal history are also being investigated.
The arrest of Vanrapathi and Khant by the Mumbai Police is a significant step in ensuring the safety and security of prominent individuals like Mukesh Ambani. The swift and effective investigation reflects the dedication of law enforcement agencies in combating cybercrime and protecting citizens from threats and intimidation. As the investigation progresses, further details are likely to emerge, shedding more light on the motives and circumstances surrounding this case.
