Why is there a water cut in Mumbai?
BMC in a notice said that , the Mumbai water cut is due to essential maintenance work on Water Tunnel No. 1 (AMT-1) and Water Tunnel No. 2 (AMT-2). These tunnels are major components of the Mumbai water supply network.
The work will include charging, flushing, chlorination, and dechlorination of these tunnels to maintain water quality and system efficiency. Officials have stated that this preventive maintenance is necessary for the long-term reliability of Mumbai's water infrastructure.
