Mumbai Water Cut On May 5 & 6: BMC Announces 30-Hour Water Supply Cut; Check Affected Areas & Timings

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced a major Mumbai water shutdown across multiple parts of the city, scheduled between May 5 and May 6, 2026. The BMC water cut is a 30-hour-long event, and the water supply will be disrupted in major parts of the city. BMC said that this Water cut is a part of a critical infrastructure upgrade under the Mumbai water supply project for improving long-term distribution efficiency.

Mumbai Water Cut Date & Time

As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation water cut notice, the shutdown will begin at Start: May 5, 2026 (Tuesday), 10:00 AM, End: May 6, 2026 (Wednesday), 4:00 PM, Duration: 30 hours.

During this Mumbai water supply shutdown, several areas will face complete disruption, while others will experience low-pressure water supply.

Why Is There a Water Cut in Mumbai?

The Mumbai water cut in May 2026 is due to essential maintenance and commissioning work. The project involves connecting a major water tunnel network from:

Amar Mahal (Hedgewar Udyan)
Wadala (Pratiksha Nagar)
Parel (AMT-1)
Trombay Reservoir (AMT-2)

Turbhe High Level Reservoir

Additionally, an 1800 mm diameter water pipeline supplying the Turbhe High Level Reservoir will be connected to another 1800 mm line.

During this process the 1800 mm Turbhe High Level channel and The 1200 mm Turbhe Low Level channel will remain shut, leading to the Mumbai water cut.
