Narayana Health has introduced its first health insurance product, 'ADITI', which aims to provide comprehensive coverage of ₹1 crore for surgeries and ₹5 lakh for medical management. The Bengaluru-based company seeks to bridge the insurance gap by offering affordable insurance to the working class. Dr Devi Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Health and Narayana Health Insurance, emphasized the importance of empowering the working class with better healthcare access.

Addressing India's Healthcare Needs
According to a 2023 report by the National Academy, 95% of India lacks access to natural catastrophe insurance. Dr Shetty highlighted that India needs 70 million surgeries annually but currently manages only 20 million, leaving 50 million people unable to afford the cost. He stressed that the working class should have the same empowerment as the rich.
Transforming Health Insurance
Viren Prasad Shetty, Vice Chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya Ltd, stated that ADITI aims to transform health insurance into a proactive healthcare tool rather than a reactive treatment option. The plan focuses on life-saving treatments, eliminates undisclosed charges, and minimizes waiting periods. It offers day-one coverage for pre-existing diseases and specific illnesses, ensuring individuals receive benefits from the start.
Expanding Coverage
Initially launched as a pilot project in Mysuru, Mandya, and Chamraj Nagar districts, ADITI will soon be introduced in Bengaluru. Narayana Health plans to expand this insurance to its own hospitals across its 21-hospital network in India and numerous clinics. In Bengaluru alone, it operates seven hospitals and three clinics.
