Republic Day 2025: This year, the PM Modi government plans to showcase India's cultural diversity & military prowess on the Republic Day's 75th anniversary. Republic Day is celebrated every year on January 26 since 1950, which marked the adoption of the constitution of India. PM Modi will start the morning of Republic Day's special parade on Sunday. He will be joined by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the chief guest. On the occasion of the 75th Republic Day, a total of 350-member contingent marched past alongside Indian Armed Forces contingents.

According to the official statement, the Republic Day Parade 2025 will be a unique blend of India's cultural diversity and military prowess, with a special focus on the 75th anniversary of the enactment of the constitution and Jan Bhagidari.

On 26th January 2025, the Republic Day Parade will start in the morning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. The President will arrive at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy and take the salute during a ceremonial march past, which will include units from the Armed Forces, Para Military Forces, Auxiliary Civil Forces, NCC, and NSS, as per PIB.

What Is Closed On Republic Day?

Since it is a Sunday, the majority of working offices and services will be closed on January 26. Government offices such as Raksha Bhawan, National Stadium, Kashmir House, Sanchar Bhawan, National Media Centre, State Bank of India, Reserve Bank of India, Election Commission of India and UPSC building will be closed on Republic Day.

Also, offices located in South Block, North Block, Vayu Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan and others will be closed.

Accordingly, banks will be closed as well including private, regional and foreign banks.

Schools, universities, and other institutions are also closed. Overall, it is a compulsory holiday even for foreign companies that have offices in India.

The stock market and settlement offices such as CDSL and NSDL coupled with commodities exchanges are also closed on January 26th.

What Could Be Opened On January 26?

Transport services such as local trains, metros, monorails and buses are likely to be operational, however, the services could be expected to be low.

Restaurants, shops and malls are likely to operational, however, could close earlier than their respective working hours. Also, many states will most likely follow a dry day.

With the bank holiday on January 26, digital banking such as mobile banking, net banking, IMPS and more will be operational 24X7. Also, ATM services for withdrawal and deposits of cash, or to review bank statements will be available.
