Nayab Saini Visits Grain Markets in Kurukshetra, Assures Full Procurement for Farmers

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently visited grain markets in Kurukshetra district. He assured farmers that all their produce would be purchased and payments made promptly. During his visit, Saini interacted with farmers and commission agents to understand their concerns, particularly about the non-lifting of paddy. He instructed officials to resolve these issues swiftly.

Saini emphasised that any negligence by officials in handling procurement would result in strict action. He reiterated the government's commitment to safeguarding farmers' interests. "All basic facilities have been provided in the markets so that farmers face no difficulties in selling their crops," he stated, highlighting the importance of timely paddy lifting.

Procurement Operations and Political Context

The chief minister's visit to Pipli, Ladwa, and Babain marked his first inspection of procurement operations after the recent Assembly elections. The BJP secured its best-ever result with 48 seats, surpassing Congress by 11 seats. The JJP and AAP were significantly weakened, while INLD won only two seats.

During his visit, Saini was accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary G Anupama, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Jogpal, and Superintendent of Police Varun Singla. He used a moisture meter to check the paddy's moisture content and engaged with farmers and commission agents to gather insights on the procurement process.

Ensuring Smooth Procurement

Saini assured that paddy purchases were proceeding smoothly according to established guidelines. He also mentioned that bajra is being procured by the government alongside paddy. "The purchase of paddy is proceeding smoothly according to the set parameters," he confirmed.

Addressing reporters later, Saini criticised Congress for its history of corruption and dynastic politics. He accused them of misleading people to gain power in states like Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana. "The Congress never rose above corruption and dynastic politics," he remarked.

The tentative date for the swearing-in ceremony of Haryana's new BJP government is October 15 in Panchkula. This event follows the party's significant electoral success in the state elections held on October 5.
