The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has been honoured with three prestigious Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) Vishwakarma Awards, showcasing its significant contributions to the construction sector. Among the accolades, NCRTC was recognized as the best professionally managed company, highlighting its excellence in managing complex projects with a turnover exceeding Rs 2,500 crore.

NCRTC's role in developing the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) has been pivotal. This rail-based, high-speed, and high-frequency transit system aims to enhance connectivity between metropolitan areas, cities, towns, and urban nodes across the National Capital Region (NCR). The RRTS corridor, specifically the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut section, has been acknowledged for creating social development and impact alongside being distinguished as one of the best construction projects.
The CIDC Vishwakarma Awards are a testament to outstanding achievements and contributions in the construction industry. As the apex body dedicated to promoting best practices within this sector in India, CIDC's recognition of NCRTC underscores the corporation's commitment to excellence. The awards aim to celebrate those who set benchmarks for quality, innovation, and professionalism.
Advancements in Regional Transit
The RRTS corridor is designed for speeds up to 180 kmph, with an operational speed of 160 kmph. This initiative promises a swift, reliable, and sustainable transportation solution that connects Delhi with key urban centres like Ghaziabad, Muradnagar, Modinagar, and Meerut. Such connectivity is expected to significantly improve the daily commute for thousands of passengers by offering a faster and more comfortable travel option.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Namo Bharat train services on a section of this corridor on March 6. Currently, a 34-km stretch from Sahibabad to Modi Nagar North is operational, featuring eight stations and facilitating passenger travel. The rapid progress on construction fronts suggests that the entire 82-km corridor might be completed before its June 2025 deadline.
This achievement not only marks a significant milestone for NCRTC but also sets a positive precedent for future infrastructure projects within India. The successful implementation of such a large-scale transit system demonstrates the potential for modernizing urban mobility solutions across the country.
