New Aadhaar App: No Need For Physical Card, Unlock With Face ID, QR Code; Step By Step Guide To Use

New Aadhaar App: In a major move, the government launched a new Aadhaar app in a beta version, where Indian citizens do not require physical cards or photocopies to access digital transactions or benefits. The new Aadhaar app is equipped with Face ID or QR Code authentication and with integrated artificial intelligence (AI). The move is to further enhance service delivery by using Aadhaar.

During the 'Aadhaar Samvaad' in New Delhi, Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Railways and lnformation and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated new Aadhaar app that will empower Aadhaar number holders to share only the necessary data while availing services of their choice.

Vaishnaw stated how AI is like a new industrial revolution. Adding he said, "Aadhaar is the 'aadhaar' of many initiatives and is the core of DPIs."

He asked the stakeholders to share ideas on how we to integrate AI with DPIs to drive the growth further. All this, while preserving the privacy, he added.

In the Aadhaar Samvaad series, authorities focused discussions covering areas and themes like the adoption of new technologies and processes in Aadhaar enrolment and authentication; Expanding Aadhaar usage for good governance; Strengthening Aadhaar enrolment and updating the ecosystem, and data privacy.

Even, UIDAI showcased demos of some new products including the Sandbox and an upcoming new mobile app that will allow people to have more control over how much information they will share while availing services, it said.

New Aadhaar App Benefits:

As per the main statement, the UIDAI-backed 12-digit biometric will be available to access on the new Aadhaar app that will empower Aadhaar number holders to share only the necessary data while availing services of their choice. It will give Aadhaar number holders complete control over their personal information.

The app allows digital verification and exchange via a requesting application or by scanning a QR code, eliminating the need for physical photocopies while ensuring privacy, it said.

One of the major innovations in the app is the integration of Aadhaar Face Authentication, which is witnessing rapid adoption across sectors and has clocked over 15 crore transactions per month.

That being said, the ministry launched the new app as an early adopters' release for a small group of users including all the registered participants of this Aadhaar Samvaad event. Based on the feedback received from users and ecosystem partners, UIDAI will soon make it accessible to all.

UIDAI is hopeful that the outcome of this event will bring actionable insights which will enhance the Aadhaar usage and authentication services, and will also lay the foundation for implementation in new use cases further benefiting people, the ministry said.

Here's how to use the new Aadhaar App:

To Unlock Samvad Access, citizens will need to scan their QR with the Aadhaar app.

After scanning, the app will take you to a new page that will reveal your full name and other details. Go through your details, and if they are correct, Click on the 'Approve' option.

A new page will appear with face authentication advisories. Click to proceed ahead. Immediately, the new app will ask you to show your face in a circle. Once the app verifies your face, the circle will turn green and it will confirm your verification. Once verified, it said, "Congratulations, you ID has been verified' and will show your details like name, date of birth and address.
