Bengaluru residents who have been struggling to dispose of their old furniture, broken cots, mattresses and other bulky household waste can now do so without leaving them on roadsides or empty plots.

Dclutter App

The Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) has launched the Dclutter app, a new doorstep bulky waste collection service to tackle illegal dumping and recurring garbage black spots across the city.

What Is The Dclutter App?

The Dclutter app is a dedicated waste collection platform launched by BSWML for the disposal of bulky household items that are usually difficult to throw away through regular garbage collection systems.

Citizens can use the app to schedule free doorstep pickup of items such as, Old cots and beds, Sofas and furniture, Mattresses, Washing machines, Refrigerators, Tables and slipper stands, Commodes, Used clothes and shoes, Children's toys, Electronic waste items.

The Dclutter app is now live and accepting bookings from citizens across Bengaluru.

It will help civic authorities to deal with the struggle of illegal dumping of large waste items on footpaths, roadsides, parks and vacant sites across Bengaluru.

How to use the Dclutter App Work? Step-by -Step Guide

To use the Dclutter app, Bengaluru residents need to follow the steps below:

Step 1: Download the Dclutter app online
Step 2: Register using basic personal details
Step 3: Select the bulky items for disposal
Step 4: Choose a pickup slot
Sep 5: After booking, the app generates a pickup confirmation along with a ticket number, while the BSWML support team contacts the resident before collection. Wait for doorstep collection by BSWML staff

At present, bulky waste pickups are being scheduled only on Sundays. However, officials said collection days may be expanded depending on public response and booking volumes.

Why Bengaluru Needed A Bulky Waste Collection App

According to BSWML officials as quoted by The New Indian Express, " the app was developed after repeated efforts to clear Bengaluru's garbage black spots failed to produce lasting results."

Authorities found that even after regular garbage was removed, discarded bulky items such as broken furniture, wooden tables, commodes and mattresses remained in public spaces. These leftover items often encouraged residents to dump fresh waste at the same locations.

Officials noted that metal items are often sold to scrap dealers, but wood, ceramic and low-value household waste is usually abandoned irresponsibly because it fetches no resale value.

The civic body has also formed a dedicated team to handle bulky waste collection separately from regular garbage pickup services, since sanitation workers typically do not collect large discarded household items.

The launch of the Dclutter app will help Bengaluru improve waste management and reduce illegal dumping across the city if citizens begin using the service regularly.
