The New Mangaluru Port Authority (NMPA) celebrated the arrival of the Bahamian luxury cruise ship, Seven Seas Voyager, on Friday. This event marked a significant step in establishing the port as a key player in global cruise tourism. Operated by Norwegian Cruise Line, the ship docked at 6:30 AM and left at 5:30 PM, according to officials.

Passengers aboard the Seven Seas Voyager were greeted with a traditional Indian welcome. Local cultural troupes performed classical and folk dances, offering an immersive experience of Karnataka's rich heritage. The port's reception area was adorned with traditional decorations, creating a vibrant atmosphere that reflected the region's hospitality.
Luxury Cruise Ship Details
The Seven Seas Voyager carried 650 passengers and 450 crew members. It measures 206.5 meters in length and has a gross registered tonnage (GRT) of 42,363. The vessel is currently sailing the Arabian Sea, with stops planned in Fujairah, Mumbai, Goa, New Mangaluru, Cochin, and Colombo.
To enhance their visit, passengers were offered guided tours to some of Karnataka's iconic attractions. These included the Gomateshwara Temple in Karkala, known for its 42-foot monolithic statue of Bahubali, a significant Jain heritage site. Visitors also explored the Thousand Pillar Temple in Moodbidri, renowned for its intricate carvings.
Exploring Local Attractions
Another highlight was Soans Farm, famous for sustainable practices and exotic fruit cultivation. Travellers also visited the Kalbhavi Cashew Factory and the Gokarnanatheshwara Temple. Additionally, they had the chance to explore bustling local markets, purchasing handcrafted souvenirs and enjoying regional culinary delights.
The arrival of Seven Seas Voyager follows that of MS Silver Whisper, which kicked off this year's cruise season at NMPA. With regular visits from luxury cruise liners, the port is becoming an essential gateway for international tourists exploring coastal Karnataka.
