Changes in UPI Payments
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced stronger security measures for UPI users. High-value transactions may now require biometric authentication such as fingerprint or facial recognition instead of relying solely on a PIN.
Additionally, users will be able to see the recipient's verified bank-registered name before completing a transfer, reducing the risk of fraud and accidental payments. Some transactions may also require additional device verification as part of enhanced security protocols.
ATM Withdrawals And Banking Services To Cost More
Several banks, including HDFC Bank, Punjab National Bank and Bandhan Bank, are revising ATM-related charges from June 1. Customers will face higher fees for cash withdrawals, balance enquiries and mini-statements after exhausting their free transaction limits.
Another major change is that cardless ATM withdrawals will now be counted within the monthly free transaction limit, after which charges may apply.
PAN Card Rules Update
The government has revised several PAN-related compliance rules. PAN will no longer be mandatory for routine cash deposits above Rs. 50,000, but reporting requirements will apply if total deposits or withdrawals cross Rs. 10 lakh in a financial year.
The threshold for mandatory PAN submission in property transactions has been increased from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh. Property deals worth Rs. 45 lakh or more will now require compulsory reporting. PAN has also become mandatory for gift deeds, joint development agreements and vehicle purchases worth Rs. 5 lakh or more.
Advance Tax Deadline Approaching
Taxpayers who are required to pay advance tax should note that June 15, 2026, is the due date for the first advance tax instalment of FY 2026-27. The requirement generally applies to individuals and businesses with tax liability not fully covered through TDS.
New Rules For Solar Projects
