In 2023, New York City witnessed a substantial tourism rebound, welcoming a total of 61.8 million visitors. This impressive figure represents a 93% recovery compared to the city's record-breaking visitation levels in 2019. The city remains on track to attract an estimated 64.5 million visitors this year, further solidifying its position as a top global tourist destination.
Strengthening Ties with the Indian Travel Industry
Recognizing India's rapidly growing potential as a feeder market, New York City Tourism + Conventions recently embarked on an annual sales mission to the country. During this mission, the delegation, accompanied by Turkish Airlines, visited key cities such as Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Delhi from January 29 to February 3. The primary objective of this mission was to reinforce partnerships with the Indian travel industry and showcase New York City as a premier travel destination.
Enhancing Engagement with the Indian Travel Trade
To facilitate effective communication and engagement with the Indian travel trade, New York City Tourism + Conventions introduced the Travel Trade Academy program. This program features Hindi subtitles to ensure that Indian travel professionals can fully comprehend and utilize the information provided. By incorporating Hindi subtitles, the program aims to empower the trade to adapt to evolving consumer demands and provide exceptional service to Indian travelers.
