Nifty And Sensex End Marginally Low On Tuesday's Session, Amid Mixed Global Cues

On a highly volatile day, both the equity indexes Sensex and Nifty ended marginally low. Nifty was down by 34 points or -0.2% to 16,951.70, and Sensex fell by 40.14 points or 0.07% to 57,613.72.

11 stocks advanced, 19 stocks declined on BSE and on NSE 32 stocks declined, while 17 stocks advanced. Both the indexes had opened up higher but failed to keep the momentum.

BSE climbed 295.Adani Entertainment, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, HeroMotoCorp and Tata Motors59 points or 0.51 per cent to touch a high of 57,949.45 and later fell to a low of 57,494.91, to end marginally at 57,613.72. NSE also was up in the morning trade, it moved between between 17,061.75 and 16,913.75, to end at 16,951.70.

Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, Wipro, Bajaj Finserv, HCL Technologies, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra and Infosys were the biggest laggards on Sensex.

Most of the losses in IT and auto stocks were largely offset by gains in banking and oil shares amid mixed global trends. Most of the major sectoral indexes declined with the Media and Realty shedding more than a per cent each.
