Nifty Ends 118 Points Higher; Broader Markets Outperform

After a volatile session in the previous day, the indices have some seen run up and are trading firm amid positive global cues. Towards the close, Nifty traded with gains of over 0.8%, while the broader markets saw gains to the tune of 1.41% on the Nifty Midcap 100 index. India VIX cooled off by over and last quoted at 13.12.

Among the Nifty sectoral indices, there is seen a positive momentum among all of the major sectors barring pharma and FMCG, which traded with some weakness.

Meanwhile, metal pack is recovering its gains seen last week of over 6% on Friday, while other good performers sectorally have been PSU Bank, auto and financial services pack among others.

Top Nifty gainers in a firm market have been Bajaj Finserv, Tech Mahindra, Adani Ports, Tata Steel and Bajaj Finance, while laggards included Britannia, HDFC, Infosys, Nestle and Asian Paints.

In early trade the Nifty IT pack hit an all time high on continuing gains in the tier I Information Technology stocks.

Meanwhile, European stocks have been seen trading mixed, with FTSE trading lower by 0.16%, while the German DAX was up by close to 0.28%.
