Nifty Ends Above 15,700; Small-cap, Mid-cap Outperform

In a volatile session, benchmark indices snapped a four-day losing trend and closed higher. The S&P BSE Sensex closed the day at 52484.67 points, while the Nifty50 index closed above 15,700 points. The Nifty Bank, Private Bank, PSU Bank, Media, and Financial Services indexes all gained 0.4-0.63 percent.

On Friday, the Nifty IT, Metal, FMCG, and Auto indices were trading down. The top Sensex laggards were TCS, Infosys, and Tata Steel, while ICICI Bank and Reliance Industries gained the most.

Nifty Ends Above 15,700; Small-cap, Mid-cap Outperform

The broader Nifty and Bank Nifty indexes ended the day 0.3 percent higher. Midcap stocks outperformed the market.
On the Nifty 50 index, Tata Steel, Britannia, JSW Steel, and Power Grid were among the losses.

Divis, Dr. Reddy's, and Torrent Pharma have all hit new 52-week highs; Lupin and Aurobindo are also up.

On July 7, 2021, Clean Science and Technology Limited, a maker of functionally vital speciality chemicals such as Performance Chemicals, Pharmaceutical Intermediates, and FMCG Chemicals, will begin the bidding process for its initial public offering of equity shares.

Metal and power indexes also fell 1%, while infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and financial stocks all saw buying. The BSE midcap index finished flat, while the smallcap index gained 1%.
