Though, the Sensex at the start of the trading day was trading with losses of some 100 points to 40,153 points and the Nifty was close to 11,900 mark after consecutive session of gains, but during the later part of trade, it cut its losses led by gains in the IT-giant Infosys.
Also, Nifty Realty index stood as the biggest index gainer in trade today, advancing as much as 2.58%.
All the constituents of the index namely Sobha, DLF, Indiabulls Real Estate, Godrej Property rose between 3-5.5% while DLF surged 2.5% in trade today.
In a bloomberg report, FM Nirmala Sitharaman is quoted as saying that the bus will not be missed this time as she shows her commitment to take on to infra reforms so as to boost investment in the sector.
She further iterated that the announcement shall come forth for homebuyers as also the govt. is working out ways with the RBI to assist people who have been affected from the debacle in the industry.
"One particular sector which I have not touched and has an impact on the stock market is real estate, which requires a lot more attention," she said, while speaking at a function organized to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the National Stock Exchange in Mumbai on Tuesday.
"As we envisage becoming a five trillion-dollar economy by 2024-25, our focus on creating world-class infrastructure has become even more resolute. If we spent USD 1.1 trillion on infrastructure in the last 10 years (2008-17), we now are going to invest about USD 1.4 trillion in the next five years," FM Sitharaman had said.
