Mumbai-based Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) has opened a campus in Sanand near Ahmedabad, aiming to prepare students for industry needs in the age of artificial intelligence. The Shri Vile Parle Kelavni Mandal-run institution cited Gujarat"s start-up ecosystem and regional growth centres such as GIFT City and Sanand"s industrial expansion.

Mumbai-based Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), a deemed-to-be university, has started a new campus in Sanand near Ahmedabad. NMIMS said the site will focus on preparing students for jobs as artificial-intelligence use grows. The expansion is led by Shri Vile Parle Kelavni Mandal, a charitable trust that runs the institution.

NMIMS opens Sanand campus

NMIMS is positioning the Ahmedabad campus around Gujarat’s business culture and the region’s industrial base. The institute is banking on the city’s education demand and its role as a growth centre, according to NMIMS leadership. Sanand is described as an industrial hub, and it is close to Ahmedabad city.

NMIMS Ahmedabad campus and Gujarat growth plans

Dr Meena Chintamaneni, pro-vice-chancellor and acting vice-chancellor of NMIMS, linked the move to nearby economic activity. "Ahmedabad today is one of Indias most exciting growth centres with GIFT Citys fintech at nearby Gandhinagar and Sanands semiconductor industrial growth. The city is becoming even more relevant for future-focused education and industry collaboration,\" Dr Chintamaneni said.

NMIMS said it wants to expand access to professional education in Gujarat. Dr Chintamaneni said the state has an active start-up and business environment. \"Gujarat has a strong start-up and business economy. Entrepreneurship is a priority for us, and it is also aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modis larger vision for enterprise-led growth,\" Dr Chintamaneni noted.

NMIMS Ahmedabad programmes, seats and admissions timeline

The NMIMS Ahmedabad campus is offering five programmes with 60 seats each. These include MBA, BBA LLB Hons, BCom Hons, BA LLB Hons, and BBA. Admissions are open for undergraduate courses. Dr Chintamaneni said UG applications will stay open until May 26.

For the MBA, NMIMS is following a centralised admissions process. Dr Chintamaneni said that process has already been completed. Classes are scheduled to begin in the first week of July. The institute also said Gujarat students often arrive with early exposure to business thinking.

NMIMS Ahmedabad focus on artificial-intelligence skills

NMIMS said the new campus will focus on practical readiness for work in an AI-led economy. Dr Chintamaneni said AI tools will spread across fields. \"Use of AI is going to be rampant in every domain. We are also training teachers regarding the use of AI in commerce, fintech and management,\" Dr Chintamaneni said.

NMIMS said it aims to add quality to management and professional education in Gujarat. The campus in Sanand is expected to connect learning with nearby industry needs. With MBA classes starting in early July and UG admissions open until May 26, NMIMS is moving ahead with its first intake for the Ahmedabad centre.
