No End To Byju’s Woes, Now top executive Cherian Thomas Resigns

Edtech Major Byju's troubles appear to have no end as now its top executive Cherian Thomas has resigned from the company to join US-based mobile application developer Impending Inc. in the role of chief executive officer.

Cherian Thomas played a prominent role at Bju's for nearly six years where he held the position of senior vice president for international business. Thomas became the first global employee at the Byju's way back in 2017 and went on to build the global team right from scratch that led to the acquisition of companies like Osmo.

The edtech company completed its first US acquisition earlier in 2019 when it snapped up the educational games maker for $120 million.

Meanwhile, Impending Inc. is known for famous games such as Clear, Heads Up, and Classics. It is also popular for its unique user experience (UX) innovations like swipe to complete, tilt to change, pinch to insert, and flip to change. Impending has emerged as the leader in its respective field.

Cherian Thomas completed his notice period with Bju's and left the company last week. Before joining Bju's, he co-founded and sold a VC-backed start-up Cucumbertown to Japanese company Cookpad way back in 2016. Thomas also worked with gaming major Zynga and was one of its earliest employees, according to reports.
