Noida International Airport ORAT turnaround trial with IndiGo ahead of 15 June start

Noida International Airport has completed a full-scale aircraft turnaround trial under its ORAT programme, working with IndiGo and airport partners on 9 June. The test assessed airside coordination, VDGS, passenger boarding bridges, ground power, baggage handling, cargo, catering, refuelling scenarios, and re-validation of ILS and RNP procedures ahead of domestic flights from 15 June.

Noida International Airport said it completed a full-scale aircraft turnaround trial under its ORAT programme. The airport said the exercise supported operational readiness before scheduled commercial services. The greenfield airport is due to begin domestic flight operations from June 15.

The airport said the trial took place on June 9 with IndiGo and other airport partners. The drill recreated a full airside turnaround at the terminal. The airport said the test checked how teams and systems worked together during time-bound ground operations.

Noida International Airport ORAT trial tested key airside systems

According to the airport, the exercise assessed key infrastructure used at the gate. These included visual docking guidance systems (VDGS), passenger boarding bridges, and ground power systems. VDGS is an automated display that helps pilots park safely. The airport said the drill tested coordination among several stakeholders and processes.

The airport said the trial also included baggage handling and cargo activity. It further covered in-flight catering and other ground handling tasks. Refuelling scenarios were reviewed during the drill, the statement said. The airport said these checks helped confirm operational preparedness across multiple functions.

Noida International Airport ORAT programme included navigation procedure checks

The airport said the exercise also included re-validation of the Instrument Landing System (ILS). It added that Required Navigation Performance (RNP) approach procedures were re-validated as well. The airport linked these steps to readiness checks for flight operations and safe arrivals during regular services.

The airport said the turnaround trial formed part of several advanced ORAT exercises. It said the goal was to ensure smooth coordination across operational interfaces. The airport added that these trials were planned before commercial operations begin, with domestic flights expected to start from June 15.
