Noida International Airport's First Phase to be Completed by September 2024

In a significant development, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra has emphasized the need for timely completion of the first phase of the ambitious Noida International Airport project. During his visit to Gautam Buddh Nagar district on Friday, Mishra laid the foundation stone for a crucial interchange road that will connect the Yamuna Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway near the upcoming airport.

Interchange Road to Enhance Connectivity

The interchange, estimated to cost Rs 122 crore, aims to improve connectivity for commuters traveling to the airport from Ghaziabad, Meerut, and Saharanpur. It will also benefit those traveling towards Meerut and Ghaziabad from Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, and Hathras, among other cities.

Meeting with Airport Developers and Officials

Mishra visited the airport site in Jewar and held a meeting with key stakeholders, including Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann, COO Kiran Jain, Gautam Buddh Nagar District Magistrate Maneesh Kumar Verma, Yamuna Expressway Authority CEO Arun Vir Singh, and OSD Shailendra Bhatia. Representatives from EPC contractor Tata Projects, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Customs, Home Ministry, and other central agencies also participated in the meeting.

Instructions for Timely Completion

During the meeting, Mishra stressed the importance of completing the airport's first phase by September 2024. He urged the concessionaire, Zurich Airport International AG, to adhere to the requirements and regulations of all relevant departments and promptly address any challenges that may arise. The Chief Secretary also emphasized the need for separate coordination meetings with different departments and ministries.

Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for Interchange

Following the airport visit, Mishra, accompanied by Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, laid the foundation stone for the interchange project. The interchange will involve the construction of four loops, four ramps, and four additional ramps at the junction of the Yamuna Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

Project Details and Funding

The interchange project will span a total length of 6.641 km and utilize approximately 78 hectares of land. M/s Dev Yash Project and Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. will undertake the construction, which is expected to be completed within 18 months. The total cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 122 crore, with 78.9% of the expenditure to be borne by the National Highways Authority of India and 21.1% by the Yamuna Expressway Authority.

Land Acquisition and Compensation

To facilitate the interchange project, 43.10% of the land area of Jaganpur Afzalpur village in Pargana Dankaur of Gautam Buddh Nagar's Sadar Tehsil will be required. In this regard, an additional compensation of approximately Rs 22.30 crore has already been disbursed to the Additional District Magistrate Land.

The timely completion of the Noida International Airport's first phase and the construction of the interchange road will significantly enhance connectivity and accessibility to the airport. These infrastructure developments are expected to boost economic growth and provide improved transportation options for residents and travelers in the region.
