Now Apply For A Passport At Your Nearest Post Office CSC Counter: Here’s How

The Ministry of External Affairs' Passport Seva Programme (PSP) Division offers passport facilities through the Central Passport Organization (CPO) and its chain of Passport Offices, Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs), and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs). Passports are granted in India through a network of 36 Passport Offices and are required for travellers travelling overseas. To apply for the same, there is now good news for those who have not applied yet or are not techies.

The India Post currently provides passport enrollment and application services at all post offices around the country. An applicant can go to the local post office's Common Service Centre or CSS counters to apply for a new passport instantly. In a tweet, India Post announced the availability of passport registration and application services at post offices, saying, "Now it's easy to register and apply for a passport at your nearest post office CSC counter. To know more, visit the nearest post office."

This means that individuals can now apply for passports by heading to their local Passport Seva Centre or Passport Seva Kendra, located at their nearest post offices. Passport Seva Kendras and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras are extended arms of Passport Offices and render front-end services related to passport issuance. These Kendras cover functionalities from token issuance to granting of the application for passport issue/re-issue and other services, according to the official website of Passport Seva. According to https://passportindia.gov.in/ "you need to fill the PCC Form online via e-Form Submission (preferred) or via Online Form Submission.

For submitting your PCC application online, you need to register yourself as a user on the website(www.passportindia.gov.in). To create your user account, please click on "Register" link on Home page," for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). For the submission of passport applications, the official website of Passport Seva states that "Under the new system, it is mandatory for all applicants to be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) along with Application Print receipt and original documents after submitting application Online."

For individuals who want to apply for a passport online, the website of Passport Seva has also clarified that "To apply online, you need to be a registered user. When you apply online, you also have an option to download an e-Form that you can fill offline and upload later on. For downloading the form you need not be a registered user, but for uploading the form you need to register yourself. To apply for a passport online, please click on "Home". You can also upload the documents required for applying the passport. You should have the scanned copy of the documents."

For lodging any grievances related to your passport, "you can lodge a grievance with the Call Centre at 1800-258-1800. A grievance can also be lodged on the website www.passportindia.gov.in or by visiting helpdesk at your nearest Passport Seva Kendra," according to the official website of Passport Seva.
