NSE IPO Effect: 4 Stocks To Watch Before India's Biggest-Ever Rs.30000 Cr IPO; All You Need To Know

The NSE IPO is now moving closer to its stock market debut after SEBI gave its final approval on September 4th. The planning for National Stock Exchange's proposed public listing has been going on for more than a decade now.

The size of the proposed NSE IPO is estimated at around Rs. 30,000 crore which will make it India's largest-ever IPO, surpassing Hyundai Motor India's Rs. 27,870 crore issue launched in 2024.

However the final issue size and valuation will depend on the price band and updated offer documents.

NSE IPO Update

According to market sources, NSE is expected to move ahead with the updated draft offer document and price-band announcement in the coming days. As per Reuters report, The IPO may open for public bidding around September 15, while the exchange is reportedly targeting a listing around September 25.

NSE's proposed public issue will be entirely an Offer for Sale up to 14.89 crore shares, which is nearly 6% of the exchange and are proposed to be sold by existing shareholders. Since there is no fresh issue, NSE itself will not receive proceeds from the IPO.

Stocks In Focus Today Ahead of The NSE IPO

SBI : State Bank of India shares are in focus as the lender is among the biggest selling shareholders in the NSE IPO. The SBI Group is expected to offload up to 2.475 crore NSE shares. SBI directly holds around 3.23% in NSE, while its subsidiary SBI Capital Markets holds another 4.33%.

SBI Shares at the Time of writing were trading at Rs. 1,003.60, down by 1.23%

Bank Of Baroda: BOB shares are also under investors' radar today as it is another major NSE shareholder that is going to benefit from the proposed listing. The state-owned lender is expected to sell around 1.10 crore NSE shares through the OFS.

BOB shares today are also trading in the red zone at Rs. 236.42 on the NSE, down by 1.08%

GIC Re : General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) is also among the major shareholders participating in the NSE IPO.
GIC Re is expected to offer up to around 1.07 crore shares in the OFS.

Other NSE IPO Selling Shareholders

Several other shareholders are also expected to participate in the OFS. These include Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI), MS Strategic (Mauritius) Ltd, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Aranda Investments (Mauritius) Pte Ltd, New India Assurance, National Insurance Company and United India Insurance Company.

It is very interesting to note that LIC, which is the largest single shareholder in NSE with a stake of around 10.72%, is not selling shares in the proposed IPO.

NSE Financial Performance in Q1 FY27

For Q1 FY27, the exchange reported consolidated profit after tax of Rs. 3,120 crore, up 7% YoY from Rs. 2,924 crore. Revenue from operations increased 13% YoY to Rs. 4,560 crore from Rs. 4,032 crore.
