What are Futures and Options in the Stock Market?

Futures and Options are financial contracts that investors use to manage risk or speculate on price movements in the stock market. A Future is an agreement between two parties to buy or sell an asset, such as a share, at a predetermined price on a specific date in the future. Both parties are obliged to honour the contract regardless of how market prices change.

In contrast, an Option gives the buyer the right, but not the obligation to buy or sell the asset at a set price within a given time frame. This flexibility allows investors to make strategic decisions based on market conditions. Both instruments are widely used for hedging and investment purposes but require a clear understanding due to their complexity.
