Odisha Train Tragedy: LIC Relaxes Claim Settlements Process For Victims, Check Details Here

The state-runc(LIC) offered different reliefs for victims of the quadruple railway tragedy in Odisha's Balasore district on Saturday.

The national insurance stated that it will expedite claim settlements in order to provide financial help to train accident victims.

"In lieu of registered death certificates, list of casualties published by Railway Authorities, Police or any State or Central Government Authorities will be accepted as proof of death," the life insurer said in a release.

A special help desk has been established at the divisional and branch levels to react to claim-related inquiries and assist claimants.

The accident involved three trains: the Coromandel Express, the SMVT Bengaluru, the Howrah Superfast Express, and a goods train.. As of now, the accident has resulted in the loss of 288 lives and left more than 1,100 people injured. Official records indicate that the Odisha train accident ranks among the most severe train accidents in India.
