Optiemus and LS Spectrum Collaborate on Drone Technology to Detect Illegal Communications from Prisons

Optiemus Unmanned Systems, a division of Optiemus Infracom, has teamed up with LS Spectrum Solutions from Germany. This collaboration aims to market, assemble, and distribute drone-based spectrum analyser solutions in India. The joint effort will focus on developing technology to detect unauthorised cellular activities, such as illegal communications from prisons within the country.

The drone-based spectrum analysers will enhance the detection and analysis of spectrum usage. This will help in better management of communication frequencies across India. The partnership is seen as a significant step towards introducing advanced drone-based spectrum solutions to the Indian market.

Focus on Unauthorised Cellular Activity

Prasad Kerkar, director at LS Spectrum Solutions, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. "It's truly a milestone for us as through this MoU, we reinforce our commitment to contributing to India's growing technology landscape by introducing sophisticated drone-based spectrum solutions in the country," he stated. The partnership aims to tackle issues like illicit communications originating from prisons in India.

Beyond just drone-based solutions, the partnership could expand into managing and defending spectrum usage. This includes capabilities like spectrum surveillance, direction finding, geolocation, electronic support measures, signals intelligence, and electronic countermeasures. These efforts are expected to bolster India's technological infrastructure significantly.

Enhancing Defence and Security

Ashok Gupta, Chairman of Optiemus Infracom, highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration.
