After the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam that took the lives of at least 28 people, airlines have announced additional flights and refunds of rescheduling and cancellation fees for impacted passengers. Special flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai will be operated by IndiGo and Air India on Wednesday.
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu held an emergency meeting with airline operators and issued a strict advisory against surge pricing on the Srinagar route. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has instructed airlines to avoid increasing airfares on this route, while also ensuring the operation of additional flights to the city. Airlines have been directed to maintain regular fare levels, ensuring that passengers are not financially burdened during this critical time, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.

In a statement, IndiGo said it is helping passengers travelling to and from Srinagar by waiving the cancellation and rescheduling charges. In addition to its regular schedule, it has added two additional flights to Srinagar from Delhi and Mumbai. IndiGo offers 20 flights per day from Srinagar.
An IndiGo official spoke about it, "the airline will run two extra flights from Srinagar to Delhi and Mumbai on Wednesday."
Air India Express also said that it is actively helping passengers to cope with its situation in Pahalgam. Those who have booked flights to or from Srinagar till April 30, 2025, can reschedule their tickets without paying any extra charges or price difference.
Air India regularly operates five flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Srinagar. But today, it will operate two additional flights on Wednesday from Srinagar, one to Delhi at 11:30 am and another to Mumbai at 12 noon.
"All our other flights to and from Srinagar will run as scheduled," said Air India in a post on X (Twitter)
Eknath Shinde, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, discussed with the minister of civil aviation, K Rammohan Naidu on the devastating attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of several tourists from Maharashtra to get the victims' bodies from Srinagar to Mumbai as quickly as possible. Deputy CM Shinde has urged the minister to set up special transportation.
