Pakistan Claims That India Will Attack In Next 24-36 Hours, Says 'Will Defend The Sovereignty'; 10 Key Points

Amidst the rising tensions, Pakistan is now claiming that India is likely to attack their soil in the next 24 hours to 36 hours, as per their credible sources. Pakistan further emphasizes that any adventurism by the Indian military will be met decisively. Pakistan's Information Minister Attaullah Tarar reiterated, that their nation will defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Here are 10 key pointers of the development.

The information was released by Attaullah Tarar on April 30th. Through his X handler, he said, "Pakistan has credible intelligence that India intends to carry out military action against Pakistan in the next 24-36 hours on the pretext of baseless and concocted allegations of involvement in the Pahalgam incident."

"Indian self-assumed hubristic role of Judge, Jury and Executioner in the region is reckless and vehemently rejected. Pakistan has been the victim of terrorism itself and truly understands the pain of this scourge. We have always condemned it in all its forms and manifestations anywhere in the world," Tarar added in a video that he released on X.

Furthermore, Tarar said, Being a responsible state, Pakistan open-heartedly offered a credible, transparent and independent investigation by a neutral commission of experts to ascertain the truth. Unfortunately, rather than pursuing the path of reason, India has decided to tread the dangerous path of irrationality and confrontation, which will have catastrophic consequences for the complete region and beyond."

Adding he said, evasion of credible investigations is in itself sufficient evidence exposing India's real motives. Consciously making strategic decisions hostage to public sentiments, purposefully trumped up for securing political objectives, is unfortunate and deplorable.

He took a further jibe by stating that Pakistan reiterates that any such military adventurism by India would be responded to assuredly and decisively.

"The international community must remain alive to the reality that the onus of the escalatory spiral and its ensuing consequences shall squarely lie with India. The Nation reiterates its resolve to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan at all cost," he lastly said.

Here are 10 key pointers of the latest development between India and Pakistan after Pahalgam attack:

1. While Pakistan is claiming an attack from India, it has been thoroughly violating the ceasefire agreement at LOC. As of now, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire for the sixth consecutive night, the latest taking place during the night of April 29-30. The Pakistani army has continuted to carry out an unprovoked fire across the LOC of the Naushera, Sunderbani and Akhnoor sectors of Jammu & Kashmir, alongside Baramulla and Kupwara districts and the international border in the Pargwal Sector. So far, the Indian army has been counter-responding to Pakistan's violation at LOC.

2. The US State Department has been monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan. The State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said the US is in constant touch with the governments of India and Pakistan, not just foreign minister level but on multiple levels. The US has urged both countries to not escalate the situation.

3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given full operational freedom to the Indian army to decide on the mode and timing of the action against Pakistan.

4. 48 out of 87 popular public parks and gardens have been shut in Jammu & Kashmir, as a precautionary measure after the Pahalgam terror attack, officials told PTI.

5. After the Pahalgam attack, the CSS, a top security body of India, has announced the ban on Pakistani nationals travelling to India, under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES). Any SVES visas that were issued in the past to Pakistani nationals are deemed cancelled. Furthermore, Pakistani nationals in India were asked to leave the country.

6. India has also declared that the defence ministry air and naval advisors in the Pakistani high commission in New Delhi, are declared persona non-grata. Further, India's defence, navy and air advisors from the Indian High Commission situated in Islamabad are withdrawn. These posts in the respective high commissions are deemed annulled. The overall strength of the high commissions will be brought down to 30 from the current 55 posts, through further reductions, which will come into effect on May 1, 2025.

7. India also took stringent and bold decision to suspend Indus Waters Treaty and Attari-Wagah Border. The Indus Waters treaty is more than six-decades old between India and Pakistan which was brokered by World Bank. Incepted on September 19, 1960, the treaty enabled equal rights to both India and Pakistan for the usage of waters in the Indus River System.

8. To counter India's decision, Pakistan has reportedly called the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty 'water warfare'. Further, in a tit-for-tat move, the neighbouring country announced the shutdown of the 1972 Simla agreement along with the closing of airspace for Indian airlines both owned and operated. In the case of the Indus Waters Treaty, the Pakistan Prime Minister's Office (PMO) 'vehemently rejects' India's announcement, citing that the treaty is a binding international agreement brokered by the World Bank and does not have any provisions for unilateral suspension.

9. Despite tensions with Pakistan, India closed a mega deal with France for 26 Rafale Aircraft (22 Single-Seater and four Twin-Seater) for the Indian Navy. The deal is worth a whopping Rs 63,000 crore. The deal also includes Training, Simulator, Associated Equipment, Weapons and Performance-Based Logistics. It also includes additional equipment for the existing Rafale fleet of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

10. India and Pakistan entered into an intense border brawl, after the terror attack on the Pahalgam region of Jammu & Kashmir on April 22. As per Wikipedia, the 2025 Pahalgam attack was an attack on tourists by five armed militants near Pahalgam in the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, killing 26 civilians, mostly Hindu males, on 22 April 2025. The incident took place at the tourist spot in Baisaran Valley and is considered the deadliest event of its kind in India since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. This militant attack on civilians further intensified tensions between India and Pakistan.
