Notification no.107 of 2019 dated 30/12/2019 issued by CBDT.
Section 139 AA (2) of the Income Tax Act says that every person having PAN as on July 1, 2017, and is eligible to obtain Aadhaar and makes them liable to intimate his Aadhaar number to tax authorities.
The Income Tax Department made it mandatory for taxpayers to link PAN to Aadhaar, especially for those who file ITR, unless specifically exempted.
Some news reports suggest that on failing to link, one's PAN could become invalid past the deadline.
