PAN-Aadhaar Linking Deadline Extended Till June 30

The deadline for linking the Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar has been extended by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) until June 30, 2023. According to the CBDT, the deadline has been extended to give taxpayers more time to link their PAN and Aadhaar.

In a press release released on March 28, 2023, CBDT said, "In order to provide some more time to the taxpayers, the date for linking PAN and Aadhaar has been extended to 30th June 2023, whereby persons can intimate their Aadhaar to the prescribed authority for Aadhaar-PAN linking without facing repercussions."

It added, "From 1st July, 2023, the unlinked PAN shall become inoperative with consequences. The PAN can be made operative again in 30 days, upon intimation of Aadhaar to the prescribed authority after payment of fee of Rs. 1,000."

For NRIs, people who are not Indian citizens, seniors over 80 years old, and residents of Assam, Meghalaya, and Jammu and Kashmir, PAN-Aadhaar linking is not necessary.
