Paradip Port Authority is taking proactive steps to prepare for Cyclone Dana's impact, expected on October 24 and 25, 2024. Resources have been mobilised, shelters established, and evacuation plans set to protect lives and maintain operations, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.

Efforts are underway to ensure the port's ongoing activities are completed swiftly. The authority has issued directives to speed up cargo transportation and finish loading from berthed ships before the cyclone arrives. This aims to minimise potential damage to both cargo and equipment.
Precautionary Measures at Paradip Port
To mitigate disruptions, the port has implemented several precautionary measures. These include providing medicines, food supplies, and relocating ships safely. Ships currently docked have been instructed to move to designated safe areas at sea to prevent accidents during the cyclone.
Buses have been arranged for evacuating people from areas most vulnerable to the cyclone's effects. This ensures that residents in high-risk zones can be moved to safety efficiently and promptly.
Coordination with Authorities
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways is actively monitoring the situation. They are coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of all stakeholders at Paradip Port. This collaboration aims to safeguard both personnel and infrastructure during the cyclone.
Cyclone Dana is expected to make landfall in the early hours of October 25. The port authority's comprehensive preparations aim to minimise risks and ensure a swift response to any challenges posed by the storm.
