Patriot Box: Mohanlal-Mammootty Film Enters Rs 50 Cr Club, 2nd Best Opener Of Mollywood; But Occupancy Drops

The movie Patriot, starring popular Malayali actor, Mohanlal and Mammootty, has become the second biggest opener of all time in the Malayalam film industry. In just two days of its release, the action thriller has crossed Rs 50 crore mark. However, the occupancy has dropped significantly after the striking opening. Will Patriot cross the Rs 100 crore mark by the weekend?

Patriot Second Best Opening In Malayalam Film In History:

Patriot has made a very strong start at the box office, particularly when you look at the global numbers. On its first day, the film collected a net of 10 crore across India. While the domestic numbers are solid, it is the overseas performance that is truly grabbing attention, pushing the film into the category of the biggest Indian openers of 2026 in international markets, as per Sacnilk data. The overall occupancy on Day 1 stood at a very healthy 66 per cent.

That being said, on Day 1, Patriot recorded India gross collection of Rs 11.37 crore and earned up to Rs 18 crore in overseas market. This took the total gross collection worldwide to Rs 29.37 crore, which is the second highest opening collection in Malayalam Film. The best opener in Mollywood is L2: Empuraan which was released in 2025, with a worldwide collection of Rs 68.20 crore on its release day.

Patriot Box Office Collection:

As of Day 3, Patriot is currently running across 82 shows and has collected a net of Rs 0.13 crore Live today. This brings total India gross collections to Rs 18.89 crore and total India net to Rs 16.28 crore so far, with India final collections yet to be reported, as per Sacnilk. The Day 3 is May 3rd and its full collection data will be calculated by end of the day.

Worldwide, the movie crossed Rs 50 crore mark. On Day 2, the movie bagged Rs 6.15 crore collection in India, but it earned Rs 15 crore alone in overseas market.

This brings total to Rs 18,89 crore gross collection in India and Rs 31.50 crore collection in the overseas market. Hence, Patriot has crossed Rs 50 crore.

However, in India, the film has recorded sharp decline in demand. On Day 2 alone, the net collection dropped by 38.5%. Also, its occupancy has fallen from 66% on Day 1, to 43% on Day 2. The Day 3 occupancy is as low as 20% but this is because the shows for morning, afternoon, evening and night is yet to be calculated.
