Petrol, Diesel Price Remains Steady: Check Latest Price Of Fuel In Major Cities

The price of petrol and diesel have been kept unchanged on September 3, 2022 as the leading Oil Marketing Companies decide to keep the prices constant. Fuel prices have been unchanged across India except Maharashtra since May 21 when finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman declared a cut in excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel.

Earlier this year in July Maharashtra witnessed a fall in fuel prices after the state government declared a cut in Value-Added Tax or VAT on petrol by Rs 5 per litre and Rs 3 per litre on diesel.

The price of 1 litre of petrol is in Delhi is recorded at Rs 96.72 per litre while the diesel price is Rs 89.62 per litre in the national capital. In Mumbai, the price of one litre of petrol is recorded at Rs 106.31 per litre and diesel price is available at Rs 94.27 per litre.

The prices of petrol and diesel do not remain same in cities across India due to levy of local taxes such as VAT and freight charges.

The public sector oil marketing companies that may include Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise prices of fuel everyday keeping in line with benchmark global prices and foreign exchange rates. If any changes in the prices of petrol and diesel occur, it is implemented at 6 AM everyday.
