Petrol, Diesel Prices: Fuel Remain Unchanged, Check Rates
On Friday, November 26, the price of petrol and diesel remained steady for the 22nd day in a row. After the central government slashed excise charges and numerous state governments slashed Value Added Tax (Vat) on the two primary fuels, city fuel prices were last changed on November 4. The excise duty on fuel had been decreased by 5 per litre, and on diesel by 10 per litre, by the Centre.
In Delhi, the price of petrol is currently 103.97 per litre, while the price of diesel is 86.67 per litre. In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs 109.98 rupees, while a litre of diesel costs 94.14 rupees. A litre of petrol costs 101.40 rupees in Chennai, while a litre of diesel costs 91.43 rupees. In Kolkata, a litre of petrol costs 104.67 rupees, while a litre of diesel costs 101.56 rupees.
The excise tax drop was the largest reduction in excise duty in history. In addition to lowering the excise charge, the union government requested states to lower the value-added tax (VAT) on gasoline and diesel to provide assistance to customers.
Following this, 27 states and union territories reduced their VAT rates to provide additional relief to customers who have been hit by record-high retail costs.
