Petrol, Diesel Prices Static For 20 Days Now On August 6, 2021

State run oil marketing companies have kept auto fuel rates unchanged for 20 days now. The price of petrol today (August 6, 2021) in the national capital is Rs. 101.84 per litre, while diesel costs Rs. 89.87 per litre. After the assembly elections concluded in some of the states, fuel prices were increased 41 times since May 4 and are now retailing at record highs.

Petrol, diesel prices vary across cities owing to VAT, local taxes and freight charges. Petrol prices have crossed Rs. 100 per litre in MP, Delhi, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Telangana, Ladakh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and some of the cities of Punjab and Bihar.

Since mid June 2017, state-run oil retailers in the country have been following dynamic pricing model wherein fuel rates are revised everyday at 6 am based on the benchmark international rates as well as foreign exchange rate.
