Petrol, Diesel Prices Up On Tuesday, Hit Record Highs

Petrol and diesel prices on Tuesday (May 18) touched record highs after Oil Marketing Companies raised rates at the fuel pumps once again. The rates had already risen 10 times this month.

Petrol prices saw hikes of about 23-27 paise a litre and diesel prices rose by 27-31 per litre across the major cities of the country.

Petrol prices in Delhi were retailing at Rs 92.85 on Tuesday, when compared to Rs 92.58 on Monday.

Similarly in the city of Mumbai petrol was set to cross the Rs 100 mark, with a litre of petrol priced at a record Rs 99.14.

A similar trend was also noticed in diesel prices, which tends to move in tandem with petrol. It is unlikely that the prices are going to come down anytime soon, unless the government cuts taxes on the same. International prices have already risen sharply, which has pushed domestic prices higher.
