Petrol Prices, Diesel Prices Hike 2026: Which Cities Offer Fuel Below Rs 100? Lowest Petrol, Diesel Rates Here

Indian oil marketing companies (OMCs) have hiked petrol and diesel prices for the first time in 4 years. Due to the West Asian war, which caused a global energy crisis, both petrol and diesel prices have increased by up to Rs 3.60 per litre. Petrol prices in the majority of cities has reached above the Rs 100 mark and in some it is a staggering Rs 110 per litre. Diesel has also become expensive, nearing Rs 100 per litre in many cities. However, petrol and diesel are cheaper than Rs 100 in some locations.

Why Are Petrol & Diesel Prices Hiked?

According to Ajit Mishra - SVP, Research, Religare Broking, the sharp increase in petrol, diesel, and CNG prices reflects the direct impact of the escalating West Asia energy crisis and supply disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz.

With global crude oil prices surging from nearly $69 in February to above $120+ per barrel and currently at $107 mark, oil marketing companies were under mounting pressure due to rising input costs and shrinking marketing margins.

However, Mishra also pointed out that while fuel availability remains stable, the hike is likely to intensify inflationary pressures across the economy. Higher transportation and logistics costs could gradually push up prices of essential goods and services, increasing the burden on household budgets and raising overall cost-of-living concerns in the near term.
